Programs and Legislation

There are numerous regional and national green home labeling programs and legislation either already in effect or in development across the U.S. that support water conservation and quality.

USGBC/LEED®

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) developed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System to provide a national standard for what constitutes a sustainable building. A total of five points are available for water efficiency for LEED-New Construction. Delta is a member of the USGBC.

Environments for Living® Certified Green

A Masco Corporation initiative, Environments For Living Green is a proprietary green building program that applies the latest techniques in building science to create more energy- and water-efficient homes.

Canadian Green Building Council

Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) is the leading Canadian industry organization advancing green building practices for livable communities. The CaGBC represents 1,600 member organizations involved in the design, construction and operation of buildings. The Council implements the LEED® Green Building Rating System in Canada.

California Statute AB#1953

California statute AB 1953 mandates that by January 1, 2010, the weighted average lead content in pipes, fittings and fixtures used to convey drinking water cannot exceed 0.25% on wetted surfaces.
